Horseshoe Bay started with humble beginnings. In the turn of the 20th century is started as a small logging community. In 1926 Marine Drive was extended to Horseshoe Bay, and five years later land developer Dan Sewell acquired waterfront property for a hotel and a marina and the news of outstanding
Horseshoe Bay started with humble beginnings. In the turn of the 20th century is started as a small logging community. In 1926 Marine Drive was extended to Horseshoe Bay, and five years later land developer Dan Sewell acquired waterfront property for a hotel and a marina and the news of outstanding fishing spread throughout North America. Almost 90 years later, Horseshoe Bay is still a small community of a little over 1000 residents, but as North Shore’s gateway to Howe Sound it can attract 1000’s of tourists yearly. Horseshoe Bay could be considered a pedestrian paradise as all the local shops, restaurants and parks are within a few minute walking distances of each other. As one of Horseshoe Bay’s original residents, Sewell’s Marina offers boat rentals, Sea Safari Eco-Tours, and fishing. The Horseshoe Bay Community holds holds yearly local events such as “Sipping on the Dock of the Bay” Craft Beer Festival , “Taste of the Bay” , Movies at the Park, and is a participate in the Harmony Arts Festival.
